Wedding Confetti in Ireland: Venue Rules, Quantities and What to Ask

Natural wedding confetti cones prepared for an Irish wedding

Confetti is one of the simplest wedding details to organise badly — and one of the easiest to make work beautifully with a little planning.

For Irish weddings, the most important thing is not the colour or the cone. It is checking your venue’s own policy before you buy anything. Some venues allow natural petals only, some restrict where confetti can be thrown, and others ask couples not to use it at all in certain areas.

Ask your venue these questions first

  • Is confetti allowed on the property?
  • Does it need to be biodegradable or natural?
  • Are there specific areas where it can be thrown?
  • Does the venue have rules about clean-up?
  • Is indoor confetti permitted?

Once you have those answers, the rest is much easier.

How much confetti do you need?

You do not necessarily need one cone for every guest. For many weddings, roughly one cone per couple works well because guests naturally stand together for the throw.

As a practical guide, 25 cones can work for around 50 guests, while 50 cones can work for around 100 guests.

Natural petals photograph well

Dried lavender and natural petals tend to move softly, look good in photographs and are easier to coordinate with a wedding palette than novelty shapes or metallic pieces.

The best confetti moments usually come from good timing rather than huge quantities. Ask your photographer or coordinator to organise guests into two lines, hand the cones out before the couple exits, and tell everyone exactly when to throw.

Keep distribution simple

A basket, box or tray near the ceremony exit works well. The key is making the confetti obvious and easy to pick up so guests do not need instructions at the last second.

Our confetti and favour collection is built around that approach: clear quantities, simple presentation and products designed around the actual guest experience.
